Lavrov thanked Azerbaijan for its help in evacuating Russians from Iran

During a telephone conversation with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov thanked Baku for its support in the evacuation of Russians from Iran. This was announced on June 18 by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic.

"The Russian Foreign Minister thanked the country's leadership and all relevant authorities for the support provided by our country in the evacuation of Russian citizens from Iran, including artists," the press service wrote, a statement posted on the official website.

It is specified that during the telephone conversation, Lavrov and Bayramov discussed the security situation in connection with the conflict between Israel and Iran. The sides expressed serious concern about this issue, stressing the importance of a diplomatic settlement of the conflict.

In addition, issues of bilateral and regional cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia were also discussed during the dialogue.

On June 14, the Russian Embassy in Baku announced the evacuation of a second group of Russians from Iran to Azerbaijan. The first group of 14 people was evacuated earlier in the day.

Israel struck Iran on June 13 and declared a state of emergency. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the task of the military operation attacks on the Iranian nuclear infrastructure.
