Israel's missile defense systems, in the absence of assistance from the US military, will be able to repel Iran's attacks for about 10 days, and the country does not have the opportunity to defend itself for a longer period. The American newspaper The Washington Post (WP) wrote about this on June 17.
"Without resupply from the United States, <...> Israel will be able to maintain its missile defenses for another 10-12 days if Iran maintains a steady pace of attacks," the article says.
The media suggested that by the end of this week, Israeli systems will begin to intercept a smaller part of the missiles aimed at the country's territory, as there will be a need to ration defensive shells.
"At the same time, the intensity of the Iranian barrage is also sharply decreasing. After launching more than 150 missiles on the first night of the conflict, on Friday (June 13. — ed.), Iran fired a barrage of only 10 missiles on Tuesday (June 17. — ed.) in the afternoon," the authors noted.
On June 18, the American television channel ABC News reported that at least two destroyers of the US Navy, along with escort ships, are helping to repel attacks by the Iranian military on Israeli territory. Since the beginning of hostilities on June 13, the country's territory has been covered by the destroyers USS The Sullivans and USS Arleigh Burke (both Arleigh Burke types) located in the eastern Mediterranean. This week, the USS Arleigh Burke left the region, but the destroyer USS Thomas Hudner arrived to replace it.
On June 17, Reuters reported that the United States was deploying additional fighter jets to the Middle East due to the worsening situation in the region. It is specified that the US Armed Forces will deploy additional F-16, F-22 and F-35 fighters in the region.
