At least two destroyers of the US Navy, along with escort ships, are helping to repel attacks by the Iranian military on Israeli territory. This was reported on June 18 by the American television channel ABC News, citing its sources.

The TV channel pointed out that since the beginning of hostilities on June 13, the country's territory had been protected from Iranian ballistic missiles by the destroyers USS The Sullivans and USS Arleigh Burke (both types of Arleigh Burke) located in the eastern Mediterranean Sea.

This week, the USS Arleigh Burke left the region, but the destroyer USS Thomas Hudner arrived to replace it. At the same time, the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson is located in the Arabian Sea along with four warships escorting it. He ensures the security of the US military bases in the Middle East, without participating in the protection of the skies over Israel. Later, at the end of June, it will be replaced by the strike group of the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz.

In parallel, several US Navy destroyers continue to patrol the Red Sea area.

On June 17, Reuters reported that the United States was deploying additional fighter jets to the Middle East due to the worsening situation in the region. It is specified that the US Armed Forces will deploy additional F-16, F-22 and F-35 fighters in the region. Also, according to the agency, US aircraft participated in repelling Iranian attacks on Israel.

On the same day, the Axios news agency reported that US President Donald Trump, along with his team, is considering the possibility of an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities. The American leader also demanded unconditional surrender from Iran.
