Russian retailers will start using AI more widely

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) will become more widespread in the domestic retail industry in the next two years, companies will begin to actively introduce warehouse robots and digital twins, such data are provided in a study by T1 IT Holding and the Center for Expertise and Commercialization of the Skolkovo Foundation. The data was reviewed by Izvestia on June 18.
The most promising technologies that domestic retailers are willing to invest in are tools for generative AI, augmented reality, digital twins, and warehouse robots.
"The demand for digital solutions in the retail sector is directly stimulated by the development of e-commerce and an acute shortage of staff. On the one hand, the desire for omnichannel forces companies to invest in mobile applications and personalized AI-based marketing. On the other hand, the shortage of personnel stimulates the introduction of automation tools, as it becomes economically more profitable than manual operations," the study says.
Retailers will focus on such solutions in the next two years, they noted.
According to Dmitry Kharitonov, First Deputy General Director of T1 IT Holding, retail today remains one of the most active consumers of the latest technologies, including generative AI, while demonstrating a conscious approach to investing in digital.
Earlier, on March 6, it was reported that the majority of creative specialists surveyed actively use neural networks in their work. At the same time, 43% of respondents resort to them on a regular basis, according to the results of a study by the Moscow Creative Industries Agency and MTS AI. Artists, designers, representatives of the advertising and fashion industries most often use AI to generate ideas and new concepts.
