Megafon will provide communications to hard-to-reach settlements in Tuva

Megafon and the Republic of Tyva have agreed to expand the communications infrastructure in the region, develop tourism and improve the safety of the urban environment. The agreement was signed by Khachatur Pombukhchan, CEO of the company, and Vladislav Khovalyg, head of the region, at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
In the next three years, the operator, with the support of the Government of the republic, will increase the coverage area of the telecom infrastructure. As a result, communications and the Internet will appear in hard-to-reach settlements. To improve the quality and reliability of the network, new fiber-optic communication lines will be laid, additional LTE layers will be deployed and, if necessary, satellite channels will be used.
The agreement also provides for the introduction of new digital solutions in various sectors of the economy, including tourism, as well as in the field of safety and comfort of the urban environment.
"Tuva is a region with a unique national culture, beautiful, distinctive nature and interesting history, which is why it attracts tourists from all over the country. Our goal is to make travelers' stay anywhere in the republic comfortable and safe, and the capabilities of big data will help regional authorities effectively develop tourism and strengthen the economy," said Pombukhchan.
Khovalyg added that the region is interested in technological transformation, which "will improve the quality of life of citizens and create new opportunities for economic development."
