Century-old rails found in the center of Murmansk

Artifacts have been discovered in the center of Murmansk. On Leningradskaya Street, which is under reconstruction, during the work, builders found five pieces of metal rails. On one of them, it was possible to make out the marking of 1915. The manufacturer is an American company.
Experts do not exclude that the rail was brought to Murmansk from New York. And the Drott vessel, which first arrived at the Murmansk port in September 1915, could take part in its transportation.
On the other rail there is a stamp of the metallurgical plant named after Comrade Petrovsky from Dnepropetrovsk. The year of production is 1930. Experts are finding out where the other rails came from and when they were released.
According to Konstantin Noskov, a representative of Russian Railways, quoted by Bi-Port news agency, these rails could have been used in Murmansk on a narrow-gauge railway. It started at the wharves of the Coal Base and went to the station streets. In the mid-1930s, it was dismantled, and some of the rails were used during construction.
The historical finds will be transferred to the Murmansk Regional Museum of Local Lore.
Earlier, during the dismantling work on Leningradskaya Street, bricks from pre-revolutionary factories were found. And in 2022, during the renovation of Sovetsky Prospekt, a skull and bones were found in a stake.
