The BRICS announced the growing interest in unification from countries from different continents

On Wednesday, June 18, President of the BRICS International Forum Anand Purnima told Izvestia on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2025) about the growing interest in unification from countries of different continents.

According to Purnima, BRICS is becoming a "magnet" for countries in a state of turbulence. She noted that the association provides a platform based on respect, dignity and sovereignty. Dozens of States that have expressed a desire to join agree with this agenda.

"Many countries are joining, and we have a list of 44 countries. But the BRICS countries allow membership in accordance with the Constitution of all countries. So it will take a little time, but everyone is welcome," she said.

According to Purnima, some European states, including Hungary, Bulgaria and Serbia, are also showing interest in joining. She stressed that these countries consider BRICS as a platform for building a new world order.

The President of the forum also expressed confidence that BRICS and Europe are able to cooperate on the basis of common ideological principles — respect, equality and protection of cultural values.
