On June 19, at 15:30, a round table of the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) on the topic "The Iran-Israel conflict: the current situation and possible dynamics" will be held at the Izvestia press center.

In June 2025, the situation in the Middle East reached a new round of tension. On June 13, Israel launched strikes on the territory of Iran, after which the confrontation between the countries entered a new phase. The escalation occurred against the background of negotiations between Tehran and Washington on the Iranian nuclear program, the future of which remains uncertain.

The participants of the round table will discuss what caused the escalation of the Iranian-Israeli confrontation, what scenarios of its development are possible in the near future and what is the probability of involving other countries in the region and external players in the conflict.

- Vasily Kuznetsov, Deputy Director for Scientific Work at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Member of the RIAC;

- Viktor Smirnov, Head of the Department of Israel and Jewish Communities at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences;

- Vladimir Sazhin, Senior Researcher at the Center for the Study of the Near and Middle East at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences;

- Ivan Bocharov, INF Program Manager.
