- Dmitriev pointed to the lost profits of the United States due to the introduction of anti-Russian sanctions.

Against the background of anti-Russian sanctions, US companies lost $300 billion in lost profits. This was announced to Izvestia on June 18 by Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, at a press conference at the St. Petersburg Economic Forum (SPIEF-2025).
"We estimated, as you may recall, three or four months ago that American companies had lost about $300 billion in lost profits from American sanctions," he said.
The head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund also recalled that a few days ago, US President Donald Trump admitted that the country had suffered significant damage from the anti-Russian sanctions. He stressed that Moscow is in dialogue with a large number of American companies that note the importance of the Russian market.
Dmitriev stressed that work is currently underway to advance the Russian-American dialogue, which includes economic, investment and commodity components.
"We see that many of the American companies have remained in Russia and continue to develop actively and successfully here. We also see that there were a lot of questions from those American investors, American companies that came here in order to expand their presence in the Russian market, in order to invest in Russia," he added.
In addition, Dmitriev noted a "very successful" breakfast with the US Chamber of Commerce and pointed to the maintenance of an active dialogue between Moscow and Washington by Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart Donald Trump in order to correct the mistakes of the former administration under Joe Biden.
At the same time, he called the priority of the Russian government the support of Russian companies, but also pointed out the advantage of their cooperation with both the countries of the Global South and the West.
Dmitriev said that the Russian side is currently discussing 10-15 joint projects in various fields with US companies. According to him, their possible launch is expected before the end of this year, although he clarified that the political situation should contribute to this.
"We are already discussing joint investments in the Arctic, rare earth metals, infrastructure, pharmaceuticals and other sectors. Of course, priority is given to Russian companies, so many American investors will enter the country in partnership with Russian businesses. We will get direct benefits from cooperation with American partners," he said.
The head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund also stressed that half of the American investors in new projects are already working in Russia, while the arrival of the other part in the country is only planned. At the same time, it is noted that most investors understand the multiple and rapid growth in the number of investments when relations between the countries recover.
Dmitriev clarified that in this regard, the foreign business "does not want to be late." According to him, some of the Americans have already returned to the country, but they do not advertise this.
Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said on June 14 that during recent telephone conversations, Putin noted his personal relationship with Trump. He stressed that the established relations allow for frank and businesslike communication and seek solutions to pressing issues on the bilateral and international agenda.
