A court in Izhevsk arrested the deputy head of the regional department of the Federal Penitentiary Service on suspicion of accepting a bribe in the form of a car, the cost of which exceeds 2.7 million rubles. This was announced on June 18 by the press service of the courts of the region.

Earlier, law enforcement agencies opened a criminal case on the incident in accordance with Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Receiving a bribe"). According to preliminary information from the investigation, in May 2023, the accused received a bribe in the form of a Mazda CX 5 car through intermediaries.

"The accused and his lawyer objected to the satisfaction of the investigator's petition, and asked for a measure of restraint not related to isolation from society," the department's Telegram channel says.

As a result, the court chose a preventive measure against the defendant in the form of detention for a period of 2 months, that is, until August 17, 2025.

The arrest of the deputy head of the Federal Penitentiary Service for Udmurtia on suspicion of taking a particularly large bribe was reported earlier, on June 17. Law enforcement agencies conducted a search at the place of service of the defendant. There they seized documentation of interest to the investigation.
