The G7 Group of Seven summit in Canada is an absolute disgrace, as the association that calls itself the "leading economies" has clearly shown that it is capable of nothing. This was announced on June 18 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

"This disgrace has not gone away from us. It did not take place with us and without our participation. Why this is a disgrace is because the format is absolutely unnecessary, which can't do anything. <...> We arrived, took pictures and left," the diplomat said on Sputnik radio.

Zakharova stressed that the Group of Seven countries are not able to solve the current global crises. And the anti-Russian sanctions they imposed resulted in billions of dollars in losses for the G7 itself.

"This is a demonstration of one's own worthlessness. There are zero prescriptions for how to get out of the situation. <...> They confessed that they were the same mice that ate the cactus, pricked themselves, but continued to eat. Absolutely irrational behavior, suicidal tendencies. They have caused such damage to themselves that it is not even bankruptcy," the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry added.

On June 17, The New York Times noted that US President Donald Trump demonstrated allied behavior towards Russia at the Group of Seven summit. A day earlier, he called Russia's exclusion from the G8 a mistake, noting that this might have prevented the outbreak of the Ukrainian crisis.

At the same time, Bloomberg added that the leaders of the G7 countries were disappointed that they could not convince Trump to tighten sanctions against Russia. It was clarified that the American president had repeatedly repeated his objections to this issue.
