- The media called the disrupted meeting between Trump and Zelensky at the G7 summit a blow to Kiev

The disruption of the meeting between American leader Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Canada was another blow to Kiev. This was reported by the Berliner Zeitung newspaper on June 17.
"This was another blow to Kiev — and another proof that the United States does not think and act like the Europeans in this crisis," the publication says.
It is clarified that the premature departure of the US president to Washington was a "bitter message" to Ukraine, which showed that the American side was pushing the Ukrainian conflict into the background and shifting its attention to the situation between Iran and Israel.
"For Washington, the fire in Kiev, Odessa and other places is less dangerous than in Tehran and Tel Aviv," the publication noted.
Political analyst Tigran Meloyan reported on June 18 that Trump may shift attention from the Ukrainian conflict to the Middle East. According to him, the president of Ukraine came to the G7 summit to promote the discussion of a new arms package with the United States, but the American leader would prefer to transfer weapons to Israel. Cairo-based economics researcher Ahmed Adel, in turn, noted that the conflict between Iran and Israel will force Zelensky to conduct honest negotiations with Russia, as Washington turns its attention to the Middle East.
