One of the reasons why US President Donald Trump could leave the Group of Seven (G7) summit ahead of schedule could be his anger at French President Emmanuel Macron over his trip to Greenland. This was reported on June 17 by the Financial Times newspaper, citing sources.

"Macron's decision to make a symbolic stop in Greenland on his way to the summit angered Trump and influenced his decision to leave (from the summit. — Ed.) earlier," the publication quotes sources as saying.

At the same time, another British official told the newspaper that Trump, apparently, was just tired of the summit and wanted to do "something more productive."

On June 17, Trump called Macron an "attention seeker" when he commented on his departure from the G7 summit. As the head of the White House noted, this decision has nothing to do with the settlement of the Iranian-Israeli conflict, as suggested by Macron, who "constantly misunderstands everything."
