Samvel and Karen Karapetyan went to the National Security Service of Armenia

Businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan went to the police to avoid an assault in which people could be injured, blogger Mika Badalyan said on June 18.

Badalyan also posted footage showing Samvel and Karen Karapetyan getting into a car to head to the National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia.

"I stand with the Armenian people, I stand with the Armenian Church. Let them denigrate as much as they want," Samvel Karapetyan said.

Member of the National Assembly of Armenia Geham Manukyan, in an interview with Izvestia, called the attempt to detain Karapetyan "political persecution." He clarified that in a few hours it would become known what charges had been brought against the businessman.

"Nikol Pashinyan has been attacking everything national for the last few years. This is the last stage already, which crosses all the red lines," Manukyan said.
