The expert spoke about the reasons for Trump's withdrawal from the G7 summit.

US President Donald Trump may shift attention from Ukraine to the conflict in the Middle East. Political analyst Tigran Meloyan informed Izvestia about this on June 18.
"Vladimir Zelensky came to the G7 meeting to promote the discussion of a new arms package with the United States, which was not on the general agenda of the summit. For Kiev, it is now a priority to receive American Patriot air defense systems from the United States, which Trump would prefer to transfer to Israel to repel attacks from Iran rather than send them to Ukraine. In this regard, negotiations with Zelensky lose any meaning for Trump, not to mention the fact that he does not consider it necessary to constantly see Zelensky and respond to his requests for arms purchases, for which Ukraine does not have money," he said.
By intervening in the Iran-Israel conflict and allowing it to escalate, Trump gets an opportunity to get out of the Ukrainian conflict, the expert adds. Disagreements within the summit participants are also possible.
"Trump, apparently, was not very pleased to be at the summit, which was attended by the leaders of European countries, especially Emmanuel Macron, who recently visited Greenland and offered to help ensure the island's security amid threats from the American president," Meloyan stressed.
According to the Axios portal, Trump soon held an emergency meeting of the National Security Council at the White House to discuss the conflict between Israel and Iran.
U.S. State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce said on June 17 that the United States remains committed to a diplomatic solution to the situation with Iran. According to her, Trump is also focused on peace talks and his position is not changing.
