The leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) countries are disappointed that they could not convince US President Donald Trump to tighten sanctions against Russia. This was reported by Bloomberg on June 17, citing a source.

"At the summit in Canada, he [Trump] disappointed the allies even more by saying that sanctions were costing the United States a large amount of money," the publication notes.

It is clarified that the American president has repeatedly repeated his objections to this issue, despite his earlier threats about the possible imposition of sanctions against Russia.

On June 17, the New York Times noted that Trump had demonstrated allied behavior towards Russia at the Group of Seven summit. A day earlier, he called Russia's exclusion from the G8 a mistake, noting that this might have prevented the outbreak of the Ukrainian crisis.
