Russia expects the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to report to the UN Security Council on the objective consequences of Israel's attacks on Iran's nuclear energy facilities. This was announced on June 17 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

"The Russian side expects the Agency's leadership to prepare a detailed written report in the very near future for consideration by the IAEA and the UN Security Council with objective and "unsubstantiated" assessments of the damage caused by the Israeli military to the safety of the nuclear energy complex of the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as the application of IAEA safeguards," the agency's Telegram channel says.

Earlier in the day, the Foreign Ministry noted Iran's commitment to its obligations under the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT). The Russian Foreign Ministry also said that Israel's continued strikes on peaceful nuclear facilities in Iran "are illegal from the point of view of international law, pose unacceptable threats to international security and push the world towards a nuclear catastrophe."

Israel struck Iran on June 13 and declared a state of emergency. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the task of the military operation attacks on the Iranian nuclear infrastructure.
