The psychiatrist stated the similarity of a panic attack with a heart attack

The symptoms of a first panic attack are difficult to distinguish from a heart attack, so you need to seek medical help right away. Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Head of the Department of Psychiatry and Narcology at Sechenov University, Director of the S.S. Korsakov Clinic of Psychiatry at the Clinical Center for Health Sciences at Sechenov University, Professor Marina Kinkulkina, told Izvestia on June 18.
According to her, due to the similarity of symptoms with life-threatening conditions, self-diagnosis can be dangerous.
"A panic attack is indeed often confused with acute cardiovascular conditions, and this is understandable: the symptoms are similar in many ways - palpitations, sweating, lack of air, trembling, and a sense of impending disaster," the doctor added.
Without an examination, it can be difficult even for a specialist to distinguish a panic attack from a heart attack for the first time.
Kinkulkina clarified that cardiovascular diseases have become younger, so you can't just blame the symptoms on nerves. The right way is to consult a doctor, undergo prescribed examinations, rule out the physical causes of suffering, and only then can we talk about the mental origin of the attack.
Earlier, on April 26, Dmitry Semiryadov, a nutritionist and nutritionist, told Izvestia that too frequent use of smartphones and computers can increase stress levels. In addition, excessive consumption of caffeine, which is found in coffee, tea, and chocolate, can increase anxiety and harm sleep.
