The court sentenced the Ukrainian Armed Forces militant who invaded the Kursk region to 15 years in prison

A court has sentenced Andrei Shevchenko, a serviceman of the 17th Separate Tank Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (VFU), to 15 years in prison for illegally invading the Kursk region and participating in the blockade of the village of Pogrebki. This was announced on June 17 by the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the region.

"The evidence collected by the main military investigation department of the Investigative Committee of Russia was found by the court to be sufficient to convict Andrei Shevchenko, a soldier of the 17th separate tank Brigade of the armed forces of Ukraine. He was found guilty of committing a terrorist act (paragraphs "a" and "b" of Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation [("Terrorist act")]," the agency said in a Telegram channel.

It is specified that he was sentenced to 15 years in prison with serving the first three years in prison, he will spend the rest of his term in a high-security penal colony. According to the investigation, on August 28, 2024, Shevchenko, armed with an AKS-74U assault rifle, illegally entered the territory of Russia as part of the VFU unit to commit a terrorist act.

It is noted that on the same day he participated in the armed blockade of the village of Pogrebki, and also prevented the evacuation of the civilian population. On October 24, 2024, the man was detained by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and handed over to the investigation.

On June 16, it was reported that two servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), who invaded the Kursk region, were sentenced to 16 years in prison. It is specified that in the early morning of October 20, 2024, both men with weapons and an armored personnel carrier invaded the village of Olgovka, Kursk region, from where they transmitted intelligence and intimidated civilians, as well as prevented their evacuation.
