Igor Nikitin became the head coach of HC CSKA

Igor Nikitin, who led the hockey club (HC) Lokomotiv to victory in the Gagarin Cup, returned to the post of head coach of HC CSKA. This was announced on June 17 by the club's press service in the Telegram channel.
Along with Nikitin, coaches Dmitry Yushkevich, Rashit Davydov and Dmitry Pirozhkov also transferred from Lokomotiv to CSKA. In addition, Alexander Popov and Vladislav Bryzgalov will continue to work in the coaching staff of the Moscow club. The contracts with all members of the staff are for five years, until the end of the 2029/30 season.
Nikitin worked at CSKA from 2014 to 2021. It was under his leadership that the team won the Gagarin Cup for the first time in its history in 2019.
Last season, Nikitin also led Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, which won the first Gagarin Cup in its history. They defeated Traktor Chelyabinsk in the final series.
On April 29, HC CSKA terminated cooperation with the coaching staff headed by Ilya Vorobyov. It is clarified that this decision was due to the failure to fulfill the task assigned to the main team for the 2024/25 season of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) championship.
