The US administration has decided to disband the pressure group on Russia

The administration of US President Donald Trump has suspended the activities of an interagency working group dealing with a strategy of pressure on Russia in order to accelerate peace talks on Ukraine. This was reported on June 17 by the Reuters news agency, citing sources.
"According to officials, the efforts that began in early spring faded in May as it became increasingly clear to participants that US President Donald Trump was not interested in adopting a more confrontational stance towards Moscow," the publication says.
As it is clarified, despite his campaign promise to end the conflict in Ukraine on the very first day of his presidency, Trump has increasingly expressed frustration with the lack of real progress in recent months. According to him, mediation efforts have not yielded tangible results, and the United States may stop participating in peace initiatives altogether.
At the same time, according to one of the American officials, Trump may decide on a tougher line towards Moscow, regardless of what recommendations the working group created to work out possible steps in this direction presents.
Some of the former president's allies, including Republican Senator Lindsey Graham (listed as a terrorist and extremist by Rosfinmonitoring), are openly calling for a new package of tough sanctions against Russia. Trump does not rule out the possibility of introducing such measures, although he continues to accuse both sides of prolonging hostilities.
The Telegraph newspaper reported on June 15 that the US administration had cut military aid supplies to Ukraine. According to the newspaper, the country's Defense Minister Pete Hegseth also said that a peaceful settlement of the conflict meets the interests of Russia, Ukraine and the United States at the same time.
