Medvedev pointed to the futility of the G7 club

Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, said that the G7 has long been a "dead club." The politician wrote about this on June 17 on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
"It's been clear for a long time that this is a dead club. I remember when we were sitting at the same table. They were all zombies, even then," Medvedev said.
As specified by "Gazeta.Ru", the politician praised US President Donald Trump for his words about the fallacy of excluding Russia from the G8.
On June 16, Trump called Russia's exclusion from the G8 a mistake. The US president believes that if this had not happened then, there would be no conflict between Western countries and the Russian Federation now. The G7 currently includes the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Canada, the United States, France and Japan.
Later, on June 17, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said: Russia agrees with Trump that Russia's exclusion from the G8 was a mistake. Peskov also noted that at present, the G7, given the declining share of the union's states in the global economy and the trends taking place in these countries, "has lost its applied significance."
