The State Duma proposed to limit the sale of pit bikes to teenagers

The State Duma proposed to introduce additional conditions for the sale of pit bikes to minors. Artyom Metelev, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Youth Policy, announced this initiative on his Telegram channel on June 17.
The deputy stated the need to eliminate a gap in the legislation and allow the sale of pit bikes only if there is a document on training in a sports organization where it is possible to safely use such sports equipment. With such a proposal, he appealed to the Minister of Sports Mikhail Degtyarev and the Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Vladimir Kolokoltsev.
"Who doesn't know — these are motorcycles that can only be ridden over rough terrain. During the month, there were reports of violations in Tatarstan, Orenburg, Bryansk, Ivanovo and Tver regions. Somewhere the guys were injured, somewhere they just got caught by law enforcement officers, unfortunately, there are also deaths," Metelev explained.
Unlike motorcycles and mopeds, pitbikes are not vehicles: they are prohibited from operating on public roads.
On May 30, the Moscow State Traffic Inspectorate announced that it would take preventive measures this summer to identify and curb traffic violations by minors. The ministry noted that in summer there are more children on the roads who travel on bicycles, electric scooters and conventional scooters, as well as on motorcycles (pit bikes, cross-country motorcycles and mopeds).
