Cases of fraudulent calls allegedly from cyber police officers have begun to be recorded in Russia. This was announced on June 17 by the press service of the UBK of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
"The UBK of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia officially warns: cases of fraudulent calls have begun to be recorded, in which intruders pose as cyber police officers and require a check on the fact of an "information leak," according to a message on the department's Telegram channel.
It is specified that the Ministry of Internal Affairs conducts official actions personally, with the preparation of a protocol. In addition, government agencies can only call citizens by phone number, without using messengers and social networks, and they will not ask for a code or password.
"Only scammers demand to transfer or transfer money <...>!" the Interior Ministry concluded.
The day before, it became known that in St. Petersburg, a pensioner trusted intruders who introduced themselves as an investigator, lawyer and collector, after which she lost about 2 million rubles. A criminal case has been opened into the incident.
