Many drivers rarely check the car or do not know which components to pay attention to, which can lead to serious breakdowns and accidents. Stanislav Chekmarev, head of the PEC: MALL marketplace, spoke about the most dangerous malfunctions that can provoke an accident.

Partial or complete loss of the effectiveness of the braking system can have serious consequences. The expert clarified that the diagnosis should be carried out every 10-15 thousand km, but there are signs that require urgent intervention: vibration during braking, squeaks, increased braking distance or a change in pedal force.

Chekmarev recommended paying special attention to the brake fluid — its level should not fall below 30-40% of the tank volume. He explained that leaks or old age of the fluid (replacement is required every two years) can lead to pedal failure and reduced braking performance.

"It is also important to monitor the wear of the pads. Wear is considered critical, in which the thickness of the friction layer remains less than 2-3 mm. If continued operation, the metal base of the shoe will begin to contact the brake discs, which will lead to their damage," the expert explained.

A sudden loss of tire pressure at high speed, especially in the front wheel, can lead to loss of control. Chekmarev warned that the main causes are "hernias" from impacts, improper pressure or wear on the tread below 1.6 mm.

He specified that the optimal pressure is 2.1—2.3 atmospheres, but the exact values are indicated on the door post or in the instruction manual. It should be checked on cold tires, as after the trip the readings will be incorrect due to heating.

"Each driver can independently check the condition of the steering rods. Once every three months, it is worth examining the rubber anthers, for this you need to turn the wheels all the way to the side. Cracks, ruptures of protective covers or grease leaks indicate the need for an urgent visit to the service," the specialist warned.

Chekmarev advised checking the condition of the anthers and lubricants every three months. If the steering wheel does not return to the central position after turning, this is a reason for urgent diagnosis.

In case of steering failure, the expert recommended not to panic: gradually reduce speed, turn on the alarm and carefully pull over to the side of the road. In this case, it is dangerous to try to get to the service on your own.

Chekmarev stressed that regular inspection of these nodes will not only save money on repairs, but can also save lives.

Earlier, on May 30, car expert Yulia Trushkova said that in the summer heat it is best to park the car on smooth asphalt or a concrete slab. If you leave your car on grass, dirt, or loose ground, it can harm it.
