In the state of Maharashtra in western India, 18 people have died and 65 others have been injured in heavy rains over the past 24 hours. This was reported on June 17 by The Times of India, citing a report from the state's emergency management department.

"In the last 24 hours, 18 people have been killed and 65 injured in various incidents across Maharashtra," the publication said.

As specified, eight building collapses, three short circuits and 36 cases of falling trees and branches occurred in the city. Most of the incidents — 22 — were recorded in the western suburbs.

According to the newspaper, the weather service announced the declaration of an orange danger level in a number of districts — Mumbai, Thane, Palgar, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg in the Konkan region, as well as in Amravati, Bhandara, Gondia and Nagpur in Vidarbha.

In Pimpri Chinchwad, where the bridge over the Indramani River collapsed, the National Response Force (NDRF) evacuated 54 people. The department reported that not all were saved — four died.

On March 7, Reuters reported that heavy rains in the Argentine port city of Bahia Blanca killed six people and caused severe flooding. The Argentine government and the provincial government have announced a rescue operation to help the injured.
