Control over the work of private forensic experts may be tightened

Mandatory inspections may be introduced for private forensic experts every five years. Such amendments to the draft law adopted in the first reading back in 2013 were submitted to the government for consideration.
It is proposed to amend the draft law on the regulation of forensic expertise, said Anastasia Milyutina, Executive Director and Chief of Staff of the Russian Bar Association.
"The bill is aimed at regulating the activities of forensic experts who perform their functions on a professional basis. At the same time, many categories of judicial experts will fall under the law: from experts from state expert organizations to private experts who carry out their professional activities both in non—governmental expert organizations and in the status of individual entrepreneurs or self-employed," she said.
The draft law provides for the creation of a register, which will include information about state and non-state forensic expert organizations and private forensic experts.
