During the night strikes, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) eliminated the chief of the central staff of the Iranian Armed Forces "Khatam al-Anbiya", General of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Ali Shadmani. This was announced on June 17 by the army press service.

On June 13, Israel attacked Iran and declared a state of emergency. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the purpose of the military operation is to strike at Iran's nuclear infrastructure. In response, Iran launched several waves of missile attacks.
