A fire in an apartment building in Korolev, which killed five people, including two children, could have been caused by an electrical fault. The press service of the Moscow Region Prosecutor's Office informed about this on June 17.

"According to preliminary data, the cause of the fire was an emergency operation of the electrical network," the department's Telegram channel says.

The final conclusions will be made after the results of the fire technical examination.

It is specified that the regional prosecutor's office is monitoring the progress of the criminal investigation into a fire in an apartment in Korolev. The Agency is also monitoring the establishment of all the circumstances of the incident.

A fire in Korolev, near Moscow, was reported earlier that day. The fire occurred in a three-room apartment on the fourth floor of apartment building No. 1 on Korsakov Street. A criminal case was opened into the incident under Part 3 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Causing death by negligence").
