The designer shared tips on choosing clothes in online stores.


Online shopping has long been an integral part of our lives. Convenience, wide selection and the ability to compare prices in a few clicks make online stores an ideal solution for buying clothes and accessories. However, despite all the advantages, many people face problems: unsuitable size, poor quality, or even disappointment in the purchase. Stanislav Medvedev, designer and co-founder of the premium clothing brand LOUVE, told Izvestia on June 17 how to avoid mistakes and make online shopping as efficient as possible.
"Always focus on accurate measurements of your body, and not on the usual letters S, M or L. Each brand has its own standards, and even within the same country they may differ. Take measurements using a tape measure and compare them with the table on the website. If in doubt, it is better to write to the support service: most stores are ready to help with the choice," advises the designer.
In addition, the expert recommends paying attention to the reviews of other customers. They can often be used to determine whether an item corresponds to the specified size or is small. It is also useful to study how clothes fit on models if there are photos on the site.
Another difficulty of online shopping is the inability to touch the fabric or evaluate the quality of tailoring. However, there are several ways to minimize the risks. Medvedev advises to read the product description carefully.
"The composition of the fabric is a key indicator. If there are a lot of synthetics in the composition, and the price is high, it is worth considering. Also pay attention to the country of manufacture and the brand's reputation. Premium brands, as a rule, do not skimp on materials," he notes.
The designer also advises to carefully study the product photos from different angles. He warns that high-quality brands usually provide detailed images that clearly show seams, fabric texture, and fittings. At the same time, blurred or insufficient photos can serve as an alarm signal.
Even with a very careful selection, mistakes can happen, so it is important to familiarize yourself with the terms of return in advance. Medvedev notes that before buying, it is necessary to clarify whether a refund is possible, at what time and on what terms. According to him, some stores offer free return shipping, which is very convenient. The designer also advises saving all receipts and correspondence with the store.
"If the product came with a defect or does not match the description, you must have proof of purchase. This will facilitate the return or exchange process," he emphasizes.
Modern technologies make online shopping even more convenient. Many platforms are introducing virtual fitting rooms that allow you to "try on" clothes by uploading your parameters or photos.
"It's not a panacea, but it's a great way to get an idea of the landing. Also, some brands offer 3D visualization of goods, which helps to better examine the details," notes Medvedev.
The designer emphasized that successful online shopping depends not only on a good choice, but also on a conscious approach. In his opinion, you should not give in to impulsive purchases during sales, it is better to make a list of really necessary things in advance.: it helps to save time and money. In addition, the expert recommended subscribing to newsletters of your favorite brands, as stores often send exclusive discounts and notifications about new products, which is especially important for premium brands with limited collections.
According to the results of a survey conducted by the Renaissance Insurance group, which was reviewed by Izvestia on March 6, a third of Russians increased their spending on shopping in 2025. At the same time, the respondents said that they began to think more often about budget planning. So, 40% admitted that they began to save a specific amount for shopping. Zoomers have the exact opposite of financial literacy: 67% of young people between the ages of 18 and 25 do not consider it necessary to track spending.
