The designer gave tips on making a capsule wardrobe for all occasions.

The idea of a capsule wardrobe, in which all things are easily combined with each other, and their number is kept to a minimum, is becoming increasingly popular among those who appreciate convenience and thoughtful style. Stanislav Medvedev, designer and co-founder of the premium LOUVE clothing brand, told Izvestia on June 18 how to create a capsule collection that reflects personality and remains practical at the same time.
"You buy less, but better, by choosing things that really work for you," Medvedev notes.
A capsule wardrobe is a set of clothes consisting of a limited number of items that can be easily combined with each other. Usually, such a collection includes from 20 to 40 items, including shoes and accessories, and covers all seasons and situations — from casual outings to special events. The main goal is to minimize the chaos in the closet and make the image selection process as simple as possible.
The designer calls wardrobe analysis the first step to creating a capsule: it is worth dividing clothes into three groups — what you wear regularly, things that you rarely wear, and those that have not been used for more than a year. The latter, he said, should be removed. It is also important to consider the quality of the clothes. According to the expert, capsule wardrobes should contain items made of natural or durable materials such as wool, cotton or leather.
"Invest in basic items that will last you for years. For example, a classic coat or well—fitting jeans is the foundation on which the entire wardrobe is built," adds Medvedev.
One of the key principles of capsule wardrobe is a uniform color palette. The expert recommends relying on neutral shades — black, white, beige, gray and complementing them with one or two accent colors that reflect personality.
"These colors easily combine with each other and create a sense of harmony. Add one or two accent colors that reflect your personality, such as deep burgundy or emerald," the designer advises.
According to Medvedev, the list of basic items varies depending on lifestyle, but there are universal elements — jeans, shirt, classic trousers, comfortable shoes, outerwear. He also noted that a capsule wardrobe should not be boring: it can include expressive accessories, unusual styles or bright things if they are combined with the base.
Seasonality is another important aspect. Medvedev recommends storing out-of-season items separately so as not to clutter up the space.
"Put away heavy coats and warm sweaters in summer, and light dresses and sandals in winter. But keep a few versatile items that can be worn all year round, such as basic T—shirts or cardigans," he explains.
The designer also recommends planning your purchases for the new season in advance. He emphasizes that one should not give in to impulsive desires. Before purchasing something, it is important to make sure that the item matches the rest of the capsule's elements in color, style, and functionality.
According to Medvedev, a capsule wardrobe not only simplifies life, but also helps to better understand your style.
"When you have fewer things, you start experimenting with combinations, finding new solutions. It develops your taste and makes you more confident in choosing clothes," he notes.
On March 19, it became known that Russians were more active in purchasing summer and mid-season clothing and shoes at the beginning of the month than a year earlier. This was told to Izvestia by online platforms.
