The foreign ministers of 20 Arab and Islamic countries said that Israel's strikes on Iran, which began on June 13, are a violation of the UN Charter and deserve condemnation. The corresponding appeal was published on the website of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry on June 16.

In addition, the Foreign Ministers called for the establishment of a nuclear-weapon-free zone in the Middle East.

"[The Ministers reaffirmed] the urgent need to establish a Middle East zone free of nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction, which should include all States in the region without exception," the document says.

As noted in the statement, the only way to resolve crises is through diplomacy. In addition, the foreign ministers added that the escalation between Israel and Iran cannot be stopped by military means.

The Mehr news agency reported on June 16 that three rescue team members were killed as a result of an Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) strike on their car in Tehran. According to the press service, at that moment rescuers were carrying out humanitarian work and providing assistance to the victims.

On June 13, Israel attacked Iran and declared a state of emergency. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the purpose of the military operation is to strike at Iran's nuclear infrastructure. In response, Iran launched several waves of missile attacks.
