The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation announced the initiation of a case against a girl who burned her passport.

A criminal case was opened against a 24-year-old resident of St. Petersburg, who posted a video where she burns her passport. This was announced on June 16 by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Irina Volk.

It is specified that the girl burned the document intentionally. At the moment, she has been taken to the St. Petersburg police department to clarify the circumstances of the incident.

"My colleagues from St. Petersburg have initiated a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Article 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Hooliganism") against a girl who deliberately set fire to her passport, as well as her friend," the Wolf said in a Telegram channel.

She added that experts have begun a preliminary investigation of the incident.

On June 3, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Kaluga Region reported that police officers had detained a young man for burning a Russian passport in a video. The suspect, in turn, stated that the video was made in 2022, and it showed his invalid passport.
