The Azimut Airlines Superjet 100 (SSJ-100), which was flying from Moscow to Batumi on June 15, returned to Vnukovo Airport due to the fact that the hood of the right wing came off during the flight. This was announced on June 16 by the press service of the Federal Air Transport Agency.

"After the takeoff of the Superjet 100 (registration number RA-89120), which was flying from Vnukovo to Batumi, the hood of the right engine separated from the aircraft," the agency said in a Telegram channel.

It is specified that there were a total of 91 people on board at the time of the incident — 86 passengers and five crew members. This flight was subsequently performed on a backup aircraft.

According to the press service, this incident was classified as an aviation incident.

An investigation was launched into the incident to identify the causes of the incident and prevent them in the future. The damaged aircraft will not be used until all the circumstances are established and the malfunction is fixed.

On June 8, it was reported that a Boeing 747-400 passenger plane en route from Moscow to Anadyr made an emergency landing at Sheremetyevo Airport due to a malfunction sensor.
