Russian Murtazayeva took first place at the European Fencing Championships

Russian skewer skewer Aizanat Murtazayeva took first place at the European Fencing Championships. The tournament was held on June 16 in Genoa, Italy and ended with a score of 9:8.

In the final stage, the Russian defeated the Estonian Olympic champion of Tokyo 2020 Katrina Lehic. Murtazayeva is a two-time champion of Russia.

On May 7, the International Fencing Federation (FIE) allowed Russian athletes to participate in team competitions at the championships, but in a neutral status. It was noted that the first competition with their participation will be the European Championship in Genoa from June 14 to 19, and then the athletes will take part in the World Championship, which will be held from July 22 to July 30 in Tbilisi.
