Due to the worsening situation in the Middle East, 324 Russian citizens were evacuated from Iran. This was announced on June 16 by the Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia, Tatiana Moskalkova.

Earlier in the day, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Russian diplomats were facilitating the departure of Russians from Iran around the clock.
