The economist did not rule out trade deals during the G7 summit.

New trade agreements may be concluded at the upcoming G7 summit, and the United States is actively using pressure tools such as tariffs to stimulate the negotiation process and achieve more favorable conditions for its economy. Maxim Chirkov, Associate Professor of the Department of Economic Policy and Economic Measurements at GUU, told Izvestia on June 16.
Earlier in the day, US President Donald Trump, on his way to the G7 leaders' summit, said he expected new trade agreements amid disputes over duties with many member countries of the association, RIA Novosti reported.
"In principle, I think it is quite possible to conclude new deals. It is difficult to say at the summit or outside the summit, but it is likely that certain agreements will be concluded at the G7," Chirkov said.
He stressed that the Trump administration is interested in intensifying negotiations.
"This confrontation in the form of trade restrictions and duties is being conducted in order to organize the negotiation process and obtain more favorable conditions for the US economy," the economist explained.
In addition, according to him, the G7 summit is a fairly large international event that contributes to the negotiation process. The United States is provoking tensions in order to achieve better terms in foreign trade. As for the impact on Russia, the economist believes that it will be minimal.
"Russia remains aloof from the confrontation with the United States in the field of duties, so I don't think it will have much effect on it," Chirkov summed up.
On June 15, Cypriot journalist Alex Christoforou called on the United States to leave the G7. Accordingly, he commented on the material of the Politico newspaper, according to which the "Big Seven" turned into a confrontation between the G6 countries and the American leader.
