The interest of European countries in the Ukrainian conflict is noticeably decreasing against the background of growing instability in global processes and the aggravation of the situation in the Middle East. This was stated on June 16 by political analyst Alexander Asafov in an interview with Izvestia.

"Taking into account the turbulence of global processes, and, of course, the conflict in the Middle East, of course, Europe, or rather, individual countries and their residents, have less and less interest in such (Ukrainian. — Ed.) conflict. And we see a similar statement from other countries. <...> The Italian representative said that as soon as there is a truce, we will immediately curtail our support. And of course, there are more such voices, because the costs are high and the goal is unclear," the expert said.

Asafov stressed that such statements are becoming more common, as the high costs of supporting Kiev raise questions from both the population and political elites. In particular, the new Polish leadership is also beginning to doubt the wisdom of continuing support, taking into account the economic consequences.

He also added that the West, including the United States, benefits from deterring Russia by supporting the conflict, but Europe demands clear conditions in exchange for its efforts. Signals of a reduction in aid are coming not only from Italy, but also from countries such as Poland and Hungary.

According to the political scientist, the inertia of support for the Ukrainian regime may continue, but much will depend on the position of the American side. He noted that the meeting of US President Donald Trump with Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky at the G7 summit could temporarily prolong the current situation.

"This may prolong the situation for some time, but of course, Western analysts also note the negative dynamics of support for the Kiev regime not only among European voters, but also among European political elites," he stressed.

On the same day, Polish Minister of National Defense Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysh said that the whole world, including Warsaw, was tired of the topic of the Ukrainian crisis. According to him, many countries say that this is not their conflict.
