Forecaster predicted the peak of bad weather in Sochi on the evening of June 16

Heavy precipitation is expected in Sochi by the end of Monday, with peak rain activity from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Alexander Shuvalov, head of the Meteo forecasting center, told Izvestia about this.

"Heavy rain with up to 30 mm of precipitation will continue in Sochi today. The greatest intensity is expected in the afternoon, after which precipitation will gradually weaken by nightfall," the forecaster added.

The meteorologist attributed the bad weather to the active mesoflow, which is currently forming stormy weather in the region. Shuvalov explained that as soon as heavy rainfall stops, the storm will subside.

On Tuesday, the expert said, the weather will start to improve. Only short-term rains of moderate and mild intensity are expected.

"The peak of bad weather will be today. The situation will stabilize tomorrow," he stressed.

Earlier, on June 16, Izvestia reported that a storm warning had been issued in Sochi. It is specified that a large amount of precipitation fell in Sochi last night, but there were no serious incidents caused by bad weather. The cyclone is currently over the sea and periodically comes ashore in the form of heavy rainfall.
