Moscow pensioner lost more than 21 million rubles due to fraud

In the south-west of Moscow, a pensioner lost more than 21 million rubles after he trusted a fake employee of Rosfinmonitoring. This was announced on June 16 by a source of Izvestia.
"On May 26, a 72-year-old man replied to a stranger's message in a messenger. The interlocutor introduced himself as an employee of Rosfinmonitoring and convinced the Muscovite to transfer 400 thousand rubles to him," the source said.
The next day, the pensioner handed over $65.7 thousand to the stranger, and then another 2 million rubles. A week later, $177.4 thousand was stolen from his crypto wallet.
A criminal case was opened into the incident.
A source told Izvestia on June 11 that a fraudster had convinced a pensioner from Moscow to give him more than 12 million rubles. The attacker asked the victim to collect and transfer all her savings and valuables to the courier, ostensibly to protect them. The pensioner gave the fraudster 4 million rubles, $84.8 thousand and €16.7 thousand, as well as a 10-gram gold bar.
