German law enforcement officers seized about 600 kg of cocaine worth about €24 million in the port of Hamburg. This was reported by Stern magazine on June 16, citing a customs official.

According to the agency, the drugs were found in a container with fruits from South America, on one of the pallets. The check took place after a targeted signal from the authorities of the Dominican Republic.

No arrests have been made yet, but the investigation sees a possible connection with the case of the end of 2024 in Saxony. At that time, 590 kg of cocaine was found in crates of bananas in the city of Grimm. The businessman himself called the police after noticing suspicious packages.

"Successful international cooperation plays an important role in the fight against drug crime, and in this case it has achieved significant results," said Nils Gertner, head of the Hamburg Customs Service.

It is clarified that Gertner's office is conducting further investigations on behalf of the Hamburg Prosecutor's office.

The Independent newspaper reported on May 29 that cannabis was found in a batch of Happy Cola F!ZZ chewable candies from Haribo in the Netherlands. The drug was discovered after members of a family in the Netherlands felt dizzy after eating sweets and reported it to the police. The reason for the appearance of cannabis in sweets is unknown.
