- Russian and Venezuelan Prosecutor General's Offices sign cooperation program in Moscow

Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov and his Venezuelan counterpart Tarek William Saab met in Moscow on Monday, June 16, and signed a cooperation program.
The meeting took place within the walls of the Russian Prosecutor General's Office. A delegation from Venezuela arrived in the country at the invitation of Krasnov to participate in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2025). The Russian Prosecutor General thanked Saab for the visit and stressed that in 2025 the countries celebrate the 80th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
"As Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro emphasized, interstate relations between the two countries have reached the level of strategic partnership. Contacts are actively developing on a wide range of issues based on the principles of mutual respect and trust," Krasnov said.
He clarified that Moscow appreciates Caracas' position on preserving historical justice and the role of the USSR in defeating fascism during World War II. According to him, the opening of a monument in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory and the lighting of the Eternal Flame in the Venezuelan capital became a vivid confirmation of the stable position.
In addition, during the meeting, the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation said that during the session at SPIEF 2025, organized by the department, it is planned to discuss in detail the role of the Prosecutor General's offices of the two states in ensuring the rule of law in business. In particular, Krasnov noted the growing ties between the prosecutor's offices of Russia and Venezuela.
"I am glad that you supported my proposal to prepare a cooperation program that provides for the exchange of practices on the use of digital technologies in surveillance activities, combating corruption, terrorism, and extremism, as well as joint training events," the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation emphasized.
He also stressed that the expansion of ties in the scientific and educational sphere is of particular importance. Among other things, Krasnov noted his willingness to receive colleagues from Venezuela at the University of the Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation in order to improve their skills, as well as students for higher education.
In addition, the head of the Russian supervisory authority expressed confidence that the deepening of cooperation between the Russian and Venezuelan prosecutor's offices would become a landmark aspect for strengthening the bilateral partnership.
In an interview with Izvestia on May 8, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Ivan Gil Pinto said that the monument to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory appeared in the country because Caracas feels the need to pay tribute to the millions of dead Soviet people who saved the world from Nazism and fascism. He called the construction of the monument the least that Venezuela can do to honor the memory of the heroes.
