AvtoVAZ may reduce the production plan by 20%
AvtoVAZ may reduce the production plan for 2025 by 20%, to 400 thousand vehicles. The board of directors is expected to make a decision on changing the plan in the near future, the Samara Review reported on June 16, citing sources.
Manufacturers of automotive components told the publication that in May, the real production plan was only 35% of the monthly average in 2024. Last year, AvtoVAZ produced about 44,000 cars per month on average, while the volume in May was estimated at 16,000 units. The plan for June has been reduced to 65%, it is estimated at 25-27 thousand cars.
In 2024, AvtoVAZ increased production by 40%, producing 525.5 thousand cars. In 2025, the company sold 131.3 thousand vehicles in the first five months, which is 24.2% less than in the same period of 2024.
The reasons for the drop in sales are a sharp decline in consumer and car loans, as well as a high level of overstocking in the retail network. The sources of the publication estimate the number of unsold cars in the AvirVAZa distribution network at about 100 thousand units.
It is assumed that if the downward trend continues, AvtoVAZ will reach sales in the region of 340-350 thousand cars by the end of 2025, that is, it will actually return to the level of 2023 (352.6 thousand units).
On June 15, it was reported that AvtoVAZ presented a ready-made copy of the Lada Granta liftback in the Active Cross modification. The car was brought to a music festival in the Tula region. The domestic manufacturer has not yet announced the start date of sales of new items, as well as prices.
On June 11, it became known that the new Lada Iskra model received the highest score based on the results of crash tests conducted according to the standards of the ARCAP methodology developed by experts of the Autoreview publication. This is a more stringent standard than that provided for by certification tests in accordance with the requirements of Russian legislation.
