The transit of 20 tons of finished dairy products from Lithuania to Uzbekistan was banned in the Pskov region. This was announced on Monday, June 16, according to the press service of the North-Western Interregional Administration of Rosselkhoznadzor.

A cargo of cheese, butter, and cheese products was detained at the Burachki checkpoint in the Sebezhsky district in connection with the foot-and-mouth disease situation. Employees of the department issued an act on the return of the goods, Pskov news feed.

As the department recalled, since January 20, the certification of all animals susceptible to foot-and-mouth disease and products obtained from them, transported from the EU to Russia, has been suspended. In particular, the transit of such goods to third countries is prohibited.

Earlier in May, the head of the Rosselkhoznadzor, Sergei Dankvert, said in an interview with Izvestia that it was premature to talk about opening borders for the import of livestock products from the EU. It will depend on the development of the disease situation.
