The Khamovnichesky Court of Moscow sentenced the former CEO of the National Operator for Radioactive Waste Management (NO RAO, the structure of the Rosatom State Corporation) Igor Igin was sentenced to 11 years in a high-security penal colony in a corruption case. This was reported on June 16 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.
In addition, Igin was also fined 265 million rubles.
It is specified that the prosecutor requested 12 years in a high-security penal colony for the defendant. Igin pleaded not guilty. Speaking with the last word, he called the evidence against him falsification.
The investigation found that Igin received bribes totaling 132.5 million rubles. According to the plot of the charges, the money was transferred to the CEO for securing lucrative contracts and promising cooperation with a company from St. Petersburg.
Igin's lawyers told Izvestia that they did not agree with the verdict. It is expected that the defense will appeal the decision of the Khamovnichesky court to a higher instance.
On June 10, the Basmanny Court of Moscow arrested Vladislav Loginov, the mayor of Krasnoyarsk, on charges of accepting bribes before August 4. It was noted that the defendant received a bribe of more than 180 million rubles from the CEO of a commercial organization in the form of money and the construction of a bathhouse on his land. The reward was intended to ensure the company's victory in competitions for the repair of urban roads.
