The Kremlin confirmed Russia's readiness to mediate between Iran and Israel

Russia remains ready to mediate in the conflict between Iran and Israel. This was announced on June 16 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
"Russia remains ready to provide mediation services, if necessary, including those proposals that were previously outlined by President [Russian Federation Vladimir] Putin in previous conversations with President [of the United States Donald] Trump. In this regard, Russia's willingness and desire remain, and if necessary, all this can be implemented," he said at a briefing.
He recalled that over the past few days, the Russian leader had held a number of telephone conversations, including with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Iranian President Masoud Peseshkian.
The press secretary of the Russian president stressed that he was unaware of the decisions on the complete evacuation of Russians from Iran and Israel. Peskov recalled that some of the citizens were taken out of the territory of the Islamic Republic through Azerbaijan. He clarified that Russian agencies are monitoring the situation, and contacts with representatives of the conflicting countries are also underway.
In addition, Peskov clarified that Moscow drew attention to the lack of condemnation of Israel's actions by the United States.
"We see that the international community as a whole is divided in its assessments of what is happening into the camp of those who condemned what happened, the beginning of what is happening, I would say, and those who supported and tried to justify themselves. We are aware of this, and, of course, this is a very good lesson for everyone," he added.
Yesterday, Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and special presidential envoy for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, said that Russia could play a key role in mediating the conflict between Israel and Iran.
On June 13, Israel launched a preemptive strike against Iran and declared a state of emergency. Netanyahu said that the purpose of the military operation is to strike at Iran's nuclear infrastructure. In response, Iran launched several waves of missile attacks.
