Lust Goddess, a game containing erotic content, has recently gained wide popularity among Russian schoolchildren. The project was presented on the Steam platform. The Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Communications (Roskomnadzor) has sent a request to Steam demanding that access to the game be restricted in Russia. Prohibition of Lust Goddess erotic game in Russia

On Sunday, June 15, it became known that Roskomnadzor intends to ban access to the Lust Goddess game in Russia. The RPG-action game contains erotic and sexual content, while the application has gained significant popularity among underage users.

As explained to Izvestia in Roskomnadzor, the examination of the Lust Goddess game revealed materials promoting non-traditional sexual relations (the LGBT movement is recognized as extremist in Russia and is prohibited).

In accordance with current legislation, Roskomnadzor sent a request to Steam to remove the RPG from the platform.

As of June 16, 2025, Steam responded to the agency's request and blocked the game in Russia.

What is the Lust Goddess game about?

Lust Goddess is an RPG card game with a pronounced erotic bent, developed and published by Pochemu LTD and BRAWEA LTD. The game debuted on the Steam platform on February 21, 2024.

Pochemu LTD and BRAWEA LTD position themselves as the creators of "legendary adult games", and Lust Goddess is presented as a dynamic card game with turn-based battles, collecting characters and vivid visual images of anime-style heroines.

The game mechanics focus on collecting "sexualized mercenaries" — each girl is represented by a card that players can unlock or upgrade using a donation system. For the progress in the battles and the invested funds, scenes with the heroines open, where there are erotic dialogues and the exchange of images. Most of the explicit scene content is only available through paid options.

The heroines are depicted in the nude, there are scenes with nudity, labeled as Adult Only. At the same time, Steam currently does not have a real age verification system, that is, teenagers can download the game.

The impact of erotic content on children

Psychologists explain that the regular consumption of erotic content by children and adolescents can have a noticeable impact on their psyche and development. At a young age, critical thinking and a full understanding of sexuality have not yet been formed, so such content can distort ideas about intimacy, relationships and physicality.

Teenagers begin to perceive hypersexualized images as the norm, which can lead to unrealistic expectations of their own relationships and bodies. There is a risk of premature interest in sexual behavior that is not accompanied by emotional maturity.

In some cases, there is an increase in anxiety, the appearance of obsessive fantasies, or even a decrease in empathy. What makes this situation particularly alarming is the lack of age restrictions and access control mechanisms: teenagers are confronted with content they are not psychologically prepared for.

According to Russian legislation, in particular, Federal Law No. 436-FZ "On the Protection of children from information Harmful to their Health and Development," minors need special protection from such content.

According to the expert, formal age verification systems are often easily bypassed by underage users. At the same time, the responsibility of developers for distributing inappropriate content among minors is defined in Article 6.17 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation and provides for administrative liability.

— The presentation of erotic and sexual content in a playful way is not only contrary to the law, but also normalizes certain types of behavior and attitudes. Many games with erotic content use microtransactions and pay-to-win systems that exploit the impulsivity typical of adolescence. This is recognized as unfair practice from the standpoint of legislation on consumer protection among the adult population," concluded Venera Shaidullina.

Who is responsible for the content on Steam

The content published on the Steam platform is primarily regulated by the owner of the service, Valve. However, Valve's approach to moderation differs in the principle of "minimal intervention". The company says it strives for maximum openness and allows almost any content to be posted, except in cases where it violates the law or is obviously trolling.

This means that the controversial nature of the game itself or the indignation of part of the audience is not a reason for removal — moderation is activated only after the fact, after complaints and in the presence of legally significant violations. After receiving the reports, the content is checked by Valve employees or external contractors (for example, TaskUs or Keywords Studios), whom the platform hires to handle the requests.

In some cases, developers and publishers may disable moderation from Valve itself and take responsibility for the content of their forums, discussions, and comments. Then they are obliged to independently monitor the order in the community around their own game. In other words, Valve largely shifts these tasks to players and developers. Such a system allows Steam to save a huge amount of content, but at the same time generates criticism from both users and official structures.

In 2024, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and US senators reproached Valve for the fact that extremist and frankly unacceptable materials continue to spread on the platform due to the lack of active moderation.

In the case of games of a sexual nature, including Lust Goddess, the platform acts the same way: it does not take any action until an official complaint is received against the game from the state, organization or users. Only after that, verification begins and, in some cases, a decision is made to restrict access.

This approach, based on the principle of freedom of placement, can hardly be considered effective in relation to the underage audience, especially in the absence of a clear age labeling system.
