On June 18, at 13:00, the opening of the exhibition "And it's all about him" will take place on Tsvetnoy Boulevard, organized by the Moscow Department of Culture and the Moscow Directorate of Mass Events under the curatorship of the Maly Theater for the 90th anniversary of the birth of People's Artist of the USSR Yuri Solomin.
Thirty-two outdoor stands will feature materials from the museum collections of the Maly Theater. They depict the life story of Yuri Methodievich, which he devoted to the stage, cinema, pedagogy and artistic leadership of the legendary troupe.
"A virtuoso actor, convinced that every time you have to leave a piece of your heart to the audience, he has always remained a sincere person who does not pose falsely either in front of people or in front of the camera. From the quotations of Solomin printed on the stands, excerpts from the memoirs of his colleagues and students, a portrait of the Master arises, endowed by nature with boundless scenic and human charm," Tamara Mikhailova, director of the Maly Theater.
The exhibition "And it's all about him" is a brief chronicle of Y.M. Solomin's work in photographs. It allows you to learn about the first roles of Yuri Methodievich in the Maly Theater – Pepino, "The Consul was stolen!" by G.D. Mdivani; Bezais, "When the Heart Burns" by V.P. Kin; Khlestakov, "The Inspector General" by N.V. Gogol. He introduces the iconic performances with his participation – "The Abyss" by A.N. Ostrovsky, "Tsar Fyodor Ioannovich" by A.K. Tolstoy, "Uncle Vanya" by A.P. Chekhov, "Woe from Wit" by A.S. Griboyedov, as well as cult films – "His Excellency's Adjutant", "The Bat", "An ordinary miracle", "The Moscow Saga". He reveals the director's talent, which was vividly manifested in the filming of the television movie "The Shore of his Life", the productions of the plays "The Mysterious Box" by P.A. Karatygin, "The Inspector General" and "Marriage" by N.V. Gogol, "The Power of Darkness" by L.N. Tolstoy, "Further Silence" by V. Delmar.
The exhibition includes footage that tells about Solomin's teaching career at the Shchepkin Higher Technical University, which began in 1961, about his talented students of different generations – Vasily Bochkarev, Lyudmila Polyakova, Lyudmila Titova, Viktor Nizov.
In a concise collection of photographs, Y.M. Solomin appears as an ascetic of Russian culture. Having led the Maly Theater for more than 35 years, he wisely resolved conflict situations in the team, showed sensitivity to all who needed support, inspired, created, took care of a special creative atmosphere, felt responsible for the preservation of national classical art.
The opening ceremony will be attended by:
