Macron announced France's readiness to join military exercises in the Arctic

France is ready to join military exercises in the Arctic in order to strengthen security in the region. This was announced on June 16 by President Emmanuel Macron.
According to him, the French side held fruitful talks with the Prime Ministers of Denmark and Greenland, Mette Frederiksen and Jens-Frederik Nielsen.
"France is ready to strengthen cooperation with the Arctic countries, in particular within the framework of the Arctic Council and in the format of the eight Nordic and Baltic states. I want to say that we are ready to conduct joint exercises to strengthen security," he said during a press conference broadcast on the account of the Elysee Palace on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
In addition, Macron called NATO the best format for organizing such cooperation in the Arctic region.
Vladislav Maslennikov, Director of the Department of European Affairs at the Russian Foreign Ministry, said on March 13 that NATO, as it expands, poses additional threats to Russia's security in the Arctic. Currently, military and political tensions in the region are growing.
