The Marines told the details of the capture of the village of Komar in the DPR

On June 16, servicemen of the 336th Separate Guards Bialystok Marine Brigade of the Orders of Zhukov, Suvorov and Alexander Nevsky told Izvestia the details of the liberation of the Komar settlement in the Donetsk People's Republic.
"Komar settlement — the difficulty [of taking it] was to reach it. It is not difficult to take it as such, and it was necessary to walk 17 km from the zero line. We went in two directions," said the commander of the assault group with the call sign Molochnik.
He clarified that the difference between the two directions was their length and the need to overcome obstacles such as a moat and barbed wire. It was particularly difficult for the military to overcome enemy artillery and FPV drones.
"The difficulty was that the ditches were very large and deep, and everything was mined. We went out in small groups, carefully, slowly, so as not to be blown up," recalls the squad commander with the call sign Tit.
The soldier stressed that the fighters were literally moving "along the same path." Motorcycle units followed the same movement tactics.
"There were actually a lot of difficulties. Starting from the fact that the enemy was well fortified on the approaches, he had very well-organized surveillance, and they spared no shells. And finally, the weather was hot, it was difficult for the servicemen to cover long distances," admitted the commander of the assault group with the call sign Gats in an interview with Izvestia correspondent Valentin Trushnin.
According to him, the fighters had to "overcome human capabilities" in order to secretly get closer to the enemy. But Gats stressed that all the sailors coped with the task successfully.
"We had many groups, and each group has its own task. There were two enemy strongholds there, which we cleared and captured three soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (Armed Forces of Ukraine. — Ed.)," said a fighter-stormtrooper with the call sign Vegan.
He stressed that the opponents surrendered immediately, as they were forced into their positions. According to the soldier, the prisoners confessed that they had been "caught" and sent to Komar to report to their superiors that the situation in the village was supposedly calm and nothing was happening.
The servicemen also showed the correspondent the banner of their unit, which has become a real mascot for them.
"This banner has been with us since the very beginning of the special military operation. We came on ships, on BDK (large amphibious assault ships. — Ed.), to Crimea, and that's how it's moving with all of us. And this banner has already been raised over the village of Komar. This is the banner of our Marine Corps. Where we are, there is victory!" the fighters declared.
At the end of the conversation, they stressed that Komar will forever remain with Russia.
Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov congratulated the Russian soldiers on the liberation of the Komar settlement in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). The head of the department thanked the command and personnel of the 336th Separate Guards Marine Brigade for their loyalty to duty and oath, and expressed confidence that they would continue to ensure the security of the country.
On the same day, the Russian Defense Ministry showed footage of Komar's release. The settlement was covered by a "natural water barrier and dense buildings," which made it difficult for the advancing units to reach.
